History

DW Johnson was the proprietor of The Homestead at Zion since 1886. He had farmed the land since he was a boy. The Homestead was originally built, farmed and owned by DW Johnson’s grandfather, Frank Monroe Johnson, a Purple Heart recipient of WWI. The tobacco farm was home to him, his wife Sallie, and eight children. Later the farm became home to DW’s father, mother and four siblings. The farm no longer produces tobacco and is now covered with beautiful wheat, cotton and corn fields. This historical place has been transformed into a beautiful event venue while leaving traces of its history though out the property and it’s buildings.
